Isla is into cleaning things...mmmm wonder where she gets that from? I secretly love to clean my house. Is that so wrong? Michael doesn't think so. Here she is using crazy expensive baby WIPES to WIPE down the baby WIPE container. Not good cleaning time management girlfriend! If only she would do the dishes instead.

*****UPDATED-I NO LONGER enjoy cleaning my house or anything else for that matter. We officially have no time to bathe ourselves much less a dish. So much for order and a zen like living room. The walls are officially closing in on us with baby toys, baby swings, baby bottles, baby this, baby that.....Out with the scented candle and in with the diaper genie. Too bad that you can still smell the baby poo in it. Maybe I'll keep the scented candle after all.

I've been shocked at how much weight Ellis has put on in just a few short weeks. So I went back and looked at Isla's pictures to see how much she gained every couple of months. I'm not sure how old she is here but she obviously was hitting her "FLUFF" capacity. WOW!

Isla will be a year old in a few weeks. She had tubes put in her ears last week and she seems to be feeling great! Her hearing and health have improved tremendously and just 2 days after her surgery she has said many, many new words and phrases. Here's to the miracle of medical science.

And check out how tiny she was this time last year. WOW. Same chair, different baby :)

I wonder how many times a day they rendezvous while we're not looking. Milk mouth +Greta =kisses on the lips....that's so Gross!

Seems like yesterday that Isla was just a newborn. I can't believe she's about to walk now. What is this! Some kind of parent super time warp that only kicks in once you have a baby!!!!! It's amazing how s......l....o.....w.......your twenties go. When you have all the time in the world to work on your tan lines, color code your underwear drawer and take an hour long bath....just whenever.

Then you have a child and the next thing you know you're wondering when you turned 45 and why the AARP is offering you a free magazine subscription! Aaaaaggghhhh! I wish I could slow things down but then my day would just seem even longer.

Sorry for the slack blogging but just in the last week and a half...

Isla started daycare, I went back to work and everyone in our house has had some form of the throw ups, a fever or disgusting sinus issues. The words green, congealed and slimy come to mind. I always said I could handle baby poop but not nasty baby snot! I was right. Ugh, so gross! And it just keeps on flowing. But now I'm officially broken in as a momma. Give me an aspirator and I can suck a watermelon through a straw I tell ya. And oh yeah, Isla is about to start walking. We are in so much trouble.

PS-If there is anyone out there who still doesn't know we are expecting another bundle of joy! We are a couple months along and very excited. Now the mayhem really begins.

We went to brunch and then a wonderful contemporary art exhibit at Waterfront Park Gallery. Isla is so pleasant to take to restaurants and museums. What a gift.

Isla's First Cold

Oh...My...God...Isla's first cold about did me in. What are we gonna do when she breaks a bone or gets chicken pox? It's so hard watching them be uncomfortable with a fever and cough, but Isla was still sweet as ever and hardly fussed. Where did this baby come from? Michael's a complete weiny when he's sick and I just sleep for days. That's why Papa Timmy nicknamed her smiley. I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth...

Isla was up several nights coughing so we set her co-sleeper up in our bed. Here's me PRAYING that she has finally fallen asleep with the aid of Infant Tylenol. But no, she would be smiling at me waiting to play...at 3AM! Notice the bedside table covered with baby Vick's rub, an aspirator, saline drops....you name we bought it.

I can't believe that 4 months ago we were waiting in the hospital about to meet our Isla. In some ways it seems like yesterday, and then other times it feels like a lifetime ago. Looking back it was all so exciting and beautiful and I am so proud of Michael and I. We made a great team.

Now I can't imagine our life without our wonderful little baby. We are truly blessed.

The Perfect Day

It's a beautiful Spring Day so we took Isla out to the Cajun Festival and ate fried food, listened to a Zydeco band and did some serious people watching. Whoooa, I've been holed up in this protective little bubble of maternity leave for too long. I'd forgotten how whack most people are. It was thoroughly entertaining.

After that we all three took a long nap while we listened to the rain. Then Isla got a long bath, we watched a movie and ate a delicious meal of leftover Pot roast. What a PERFECT Sunday!
